Promoting Diversity
and Inclusion in
The Performing Arts

At Seeding Equity, we strive to promote equity and inclusivity in the performing arts. We are developing a range of programs to foster diversity in both the backstage workforce and in audiences by creating opportunities for students to gain experience with theater technology, and providing them with access to free tickets to performances.

"The world is before you and you need not take it or leave it as it was when you came in."

Our Initiatives

Backstage Diversification

The Backstage Diversification program is the initiative we've been focusing most of our time on, based on the premise that diversity in the backstage workforce is vital for creating a more inclusive environment in the performing arts industry.

Our initiative focuses on diversifying the backstage workforce through targeted recruitment efforts as well as training programs specifically aimed at middle schools, with a goal of creating enough of a spark in some students that they choose to continue their learning journey in high school.

Ticket Access

Our Ticket Access initiative is working to expand opportunities to provide free or discounted tickets to students from historically underrepresented groups, making the performing arts more accessible to all.

We believe that giving middle school and high school students access to attend public ticketed performances will increase the chances that these students will continue to be audience members, as adults.
